The San Juan Islands are known for rural Pacific Northwest landscapes and wildlife. The artistic, crafty culture here extends to the kitchens.

Local sourcing rules the roost here. After all, the islands are smack in the middle of some serious bounty, from fertile island-based farms to the nearby agricultural powerhouse of Skagit Valley to an abundance of waterborne delights like oysters and halibut. Here, as many ingredients as possible are grown or made on-site. Horseshoe-shaped Orcas Island, one of the main isles, is home to Moran State Park. We can't say enough about the island food scene, but if you ask us, it is where the farm-to-table revolution began.
